I have seen this in Slack, for instance you can type :abc and you get suggested emojis associated with those letters. This is quite helpful for those like me, who do not like to search for the emoji in the options, but would rather type it :)

Hubgets does have the emoji autocomplete function enabled, and you can test it by opening a chat window and typing in the : and a letter/ group of letters. Inserting a print screen below:
